Dragon Ball Z: Broly Second Coming

Broly’s space pod has crashed on the planet Earth and is frozen under a sheet of ice near a small mountain village. Trunks and Goten along with the help from Videl are on the hunt for the Dragon Balls Their hunt brings them to a poor mountain village. There they realize that this poor little mountain town is in need of help, willing to do anything they can to help they offer themselves as sacrifice to the mountain god. While there Goten starts to cry that he is hungry, not knowing that his cries have awoken the mighty Broly. Now Goten, Trunks, and Gohan must fight this evil without the help of Goku.

“Broly Second Coming” is the tenth Dragon Ball Z film, and the first to have young Trunks and Goten in it. The film takes place seven years after the defeat of Broly in “Broly the Legendary Super Saiyan.” Its placement in the anime timeline is several years after the defeat of Cell and sometime after the “World Martial Arts Tournament.” I personally do not understand what is with the Dragon Ball Z franchise and their obsession with peeing on people. This is the second film to have a main character pee on someone else’s head. Yes it is funny but really not necessary. Music wise I have another issue they give us wonderful music with two films in the franchise being “Coolers Revenge” and the first Broly film, but those being the only two that have received custom soundtracks. It is safe to assume that no other movie will have that customization and I do not understand why it adds another element to these films. Action isn’t as strong as it was in the first Broly film but this movie holds its own with one nice key aspect, brothers fighting together to save the earth. That is something we have never seen in a DBZ film. Plot though differing a little because Goku isn’t around to come and save the day. But, the fact is that he still manages to help out from the other world is something we all should have expected. All in all, with the success of the first Broly film this sequel is only adequate and isn’t a great installment to the Dragon Ball z universe except for some very minute points.

Good:
-Brothers working together to defeat this evil
-Nice to see a DBZ film with very little involvement from Goku
-Action is good toward the end

Bad:
-No music worth complementing on
-characters are weak outside of Gohan
-Plot is a tad different but nothing significant

Scully Rating: 5 out of 10
