The Creative Assembly and Saga are back again this time
developing a sequel to its third total war game, “Rome: Total War.” “Total War:
Rome 2” will be released sometime in October 2013, and will most likely be
available with purchase of a game disc or straight download off of the steam
network; making many people happy by getting rid of disc clutter in their
homes. The Creative Assembly and Saga have not released what the system
requirements might be but they have stated that they will try to keep it able
to run on minimum settings like “Total War: Shogun 2”
“Total War: Rome 2” will have many new features according to
developers. First change is with the Factions that you will face/play as. If
you remember in the first game there were Rebel tribes, not anymore according
to Jack Lustand, lead unit developer. They are getting rid of this annoying
faction. Instead, they plan on replacing them with numerous smaller factions; including ALL of the Greek city states. Designers have stated that any faction
that you face in game you will be able to play yourself; each faction will have
unique play style. For example if you decide to play as a small inland tribe
you might not be able to build a large navy; the game will be able to be more
historic because of that.
Next change is the campaign. The map in the first “Rome
Total War” game was large, but only spread to the extent of the Roman Empire had
gone. This title will allow you as a gamer extend that reach farther east and
prove to all the Rome will always be the greatest empire this world has ever
seen. Another change in the campaign is decision making. From what we here at
Scullynerdreviews.com believe is that you as a player will be faced with decisions that
will stack on top of each other. Good or bad you must live with the choices you
make for your civilization. In addition to the decision, instead of being able
to only improve a generals skills you can now customize your entire legions by
deciding what each legion has in their weapon load out.
The last change so far to the campaign is that navies will be getting a nice
boost in power and usefulness. No longer will you only be able to attack ship
to ship or just blockade a port with your navy. As a gamer in almost all total
war games we felt that navies were insignificant and didn't build on them. Now
that is going to change; you can now siege cities that are poorly guarded near
the water, or help land units bombard a city near the coast. This will bring a
whole new historical value to the game.
All in all, “Total War: Rome 2” looks to be a compelling
game that we all here at Scullynerdreviews.com cannot wait to get our hands on.
With all the changes that they are making to the campaign, new factions, new
naval abilities, and a larger map to take over the world with, and the ability
to stay a republic and not turn into an empire pending the choices you make. We
still have nearly a year’s wait and we will keep you updated on future information; but from what we have heard, this game, hopefully, will not disappoint.
