Gantz

Gantz is a 26 episode anime that is in a category of its own when it comes to anime.  Gantz starts out with the main character who is named Kei Kurono who ends up getting hit by a subway train while helping his child-hood friend save a homeless man who fell on the subway tracks.  When they die they are transported to a room where they are forced by a black ball named Gantz to hunt down aliens.
This anime starts out on a very weird and a WTF kind of basis but it is only after the "First Stage" is passed does the plot start to fall into place.  There are parts in the show were you just wonder if the author is just being cruel and unusual to the characters in the show but towards the end of the show you begin to understand.  After watching the series and even while watching the series you realize the entire show is talking about society, life, death, and the desire to live.  The author of this particular anime series makes the viewer actually think about the key question: is the world we live in really worth living in??

Good:
-Excellent action scenes
-Deeper plot and story line than the show lets on at first
-Twisted in a sense that helps make the storyline more dramatic and brings the viewer to sympathies with the main characters
-Nudity and crude sexual humor

Bad/Weird:
-Almost everyone tries to rape one of the main characters.......
-Only three small story arcs
-Not your typical story line that is predictable.  (Weird)

Scully Rating: 8 out of 10
